Ben Rohrer’s brave century and a vital supporting hand from Trent Copeland lifted New South Wales to a stirring fightback victory over South Australia in the Sheffield Shield match at Coffs Harbour.Joining one another on the shaky ground of 5 for 147 in pursuit of 265, Rohrer and Copeland responded positively and proved impossible to dislodge for a South Australia bowling attack that had performed impressively up to that point.New South Wales had trailed comfortably on first innings and it was Copeland’s five wickets on day three that had helped round up the visitors for a mere 177 when they batted a second time, keeping the target within the realm of possibility. So it was fitting that he was there to help Rohrer carry off the points, the left-hander playing with all the common sense and experience of his well-grooved game, which has rebounded strongly after a serious blow to the head early last season.Rohrer’s hundred and the match result were emotional times for the New South Wales players, in a fixture being played on the NSW north coast in memory of the late Phillip Hughes.
