Aston Villa’s run of form since acquiring striker Darren Bent from Sunderland, came to a halt in the face of a professional display from table topping Manchester United at Old Trafford on Wednesday. Gerrard Houllier will have been encouraged to see Bent notch up another strike, but will be unhappy by the ease with which United bullied the Villains into submission.
Fulham secured another home win with Damien’s Duff strike against Newcastle continuing a run of encouraging wins at home, to help Mark Hughes’ men pull away from the relegation danger zone. Hughes should have loan signing Eidur Gudjohnsen available for his trip to Villa Park, and the former Manchester City boss may choose to rest Andy Johnson after a hectic run of games for the Cottagers. Either way, I fancy the Villa revival to continue apace.
Prediction: 2-1
